Our Name

From Arbutus to the Strawberry Tree

Strawberry Capital was named after the hometown where the idea was first conceived: Arbutus. During an early brainstorming session about the firm’s next big move, the founders looked into the meaning of “Arbutus” and found that it refers to a genus of trees that includes the Strawberry Tree.

The name carried more weight the deeper they looked. In ancient Greek and Roman mythology, the strawberry was associated with Aphrodite and Venus. One myth tells that when Aphrodite wept over the death of Adonis, her tears mixed with his blood and gave rise to strawberries.

For Strawberry Capital, the name represents more than a place. It reflects origin, conviction, growth, and the ability to turn pressure, timing, and vision into something lasting.
